I love this a lot. The drawings are wonderful, but also those little insights they provide. I did the thing recently of downloading my Amazon purchase records and, having been concerned about how much it would show I had given to that particular billionaire, what it actually did was take me back. Back to the days of buying DVDs and actual music on CD and so many books to teach this and that. It was kind of lovely, but would have been so much lovelier if it was in pictures!
yes! as someone who has an amazon archive that goes back to 2002 (UGH UGH UGH) is that it does give you a snapshot of you. and thank you for the book encouragement :)
Your daily drawings are among the most inspiring markers of time I've been privileged to witness for 20 years. Thanks for continuing to share, rethink, and recontextualize as we age.
I've been thinking a lot lately about the importance we place on everything around us, and how helpful doing that can be to actually taking note of the million fleeting moments that otherwise pass us by. Funny how I didn't buy any of the same stuff as you, but your drawings still somehow make me think of all the things I've forgotten to remember. ALSO, that was such a great album. The Moon and Antarctica was my go-to pretty much every week when I had a 2am slot as a DJ on the campus radio station back in college. So good.
This was lovely, thank you! Was especially happy to see I’m not the only one who self-appoints “residencies” as a way of reframing boring waiting periods (my recent “artist’s residency in jury duty” was highly successful lol)
Love that you pop in and talk to me about the importance of the unimportant fleeting moments of our lives. (As I sit in front of my sewing machine delighted by the extra wide table for it that came my way today, after wishing for it. Not a purchase but a little gift from the universe. Little delights can make your day.)
Very impressive! I’ve been struggling to stick to anything for the last half a decade it feels like. And it is just slipping slipping away! I couldn’t even think what I did last weekend. Who am I! Where am I. Congratulations to you though. A book would be wild. Do you have many repeats after 20 years of consumption?
Thank you! I am really wishing that I had tagged all of these over the years to keep it searchable, but maybe something like this will happen in the future? But there are many repeats, I am sure of it!
